Quirks of Japan

The quirks of Japan:
A compilation by Sarah Lev
Nearly every man wears suits. Black ones.
Men have purses bigger than mine.
Even adults read comic books.
They sleep on the floor.
They put raw eggs on top of the most random food.
Their commercials…enough said.
There are cartoon characters on their news broadcasts.
Japanese television in general.
They drink cold coffee. From vending machines.
They work 20 hours days, only to go home-sleep for 2 hours- get up and do it again.
They don’t talk- to anyone, not just Americans.
It is the most technologically advanced country in the world and they eat with sticks.
The bars are open all night, but the trains stop at midnight.
People get their hair done at 4 am.
Beer is sold in vending machines.
Showing your toes is a no-no, but they sell porn mags in every store.
They still pop a squat to pee.
There is never soap in the bathrooms.
They celebrate Halloween-and no one knows why.
Girls wear high heels…with knee high socks.
Leg warmers revisited.
Hello Kitty seems to have puked on Tokyo.
Barbie for grown-ups. Literally…look it up.
Train conductors write notes to your boss if you’re late.
They drink socially at the train station. Probably because that is where they spend most of their time.
They use their cell phones to email.
Their popsickles have beans in them. One word- sick.
Their internet cafes are like creepy porn motels with reclining leather seats and showers.
Absolutely everything is backwards in Japan, even their emergency number is 119.
Coffee is sold in vending machines- hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
The ambulances have sirens and speakers telling people to watch out.
You will see men and women wearing traditional Japanese attire (ie- kimonos) riding the subway. (OK I was really excited about it.)
They eat horse meat and fried grasshoppers…and they like it.
Their English translations are hilarious and couldn’t make less sense. (This is how all the Japanese pose in their pics! haha, they are obsessed with doing the peace sign)
