I went on a 4 day vacation to GUAM with 3 of my closest friends here, Brian, Jo and Ruthy! We boarded an 8:30 plane and, with the time change, got to our hotel (THE WESTIN!) at around 2am. We checked in and HAD to take a quick dip in the ocean! We took a stroll around and finally passed out around 5am.The next morning we got up and took at trolley to KMART (you don't realize how much you miss it until you can't buy American products for 9 months!)! We stocked up on toothpaste and other supplies we can't get in Japan and ate Philly Cheese steak AND Lil Caesars pizza YUM!!! Then we headed to the beach, had a few cocktails and played Frisbee in the water.We spent the whole next day on the beach and in the pool. We met some toothless, alcoholic locals who promised to drive us around the island next time we're in town. We got full body massages then went back to play on the beach for a bit longer.On Monday, we rented a car and drove around the island. We stopped every few minutes to take pictures and to tour the War in the Pacific National Park and 2 Lovers Point. Then we headed to Micronesia Mall for some shopping! I had to eat Subway (it's just not the same here!) but I left room for a clam chowder bread bowl for dinner. At dinner we were entertained with some amazing live entertainment who we found out is named Natalia and she was actually on America's top model.

Tuesday, we returned the car and had a drink at the pool bar and an OISHI (DELICIOUS!) lunch buffet of crab claws and shrimp and ate a tonnn of dessert! Ruthy and I headed to the beach to do some last minute tanning and drinking while Brian and Jo opted for some shopping. We played frisbee with some newlyweds before showering and heading to the airport for our 4:20 flight.

Now for a history lesson...Guam is located 900 miles North of the equator and is 4-8 miles in width and 32 miles long. The first people on Guam, the Chamorro people, came from southeast Asia about 3000 years ago by canoe. In the 1500's Spain colonized Guam and controlled it for 300 years. In 1898, after the Spanish-American war, Guam became a U.S. territory. Japanese forces invaded in 1941 and occupied Guam until 1944. After WWII the U.S. reclaimed it as American territory. The official languages are English and Chamorro. The climate is 75-88 degrees F all year.
